Our Pastor
Rev. Dr. Kevin J. Griffin is a native of Augusta, Ga. He is the son of Alfred T. Griffin Sr. and Nancy Griffin, and he is the fortunate husband of Angelle, and the proud father of Kyla and Mayah. He is a bi-vocational pastor, who serves as a technology leadership professional in the marketplace, and has humbly served as the Chief Servant Leader (Pastor) for First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for seven years.
Pastor Griffin was licensed to preach at Beulah Grove Baptist Church, Augusta, GA, by the Rev. Dr. Sam Davis in January of 2008. He was ordained through the United Missionary Baptist Association, in Charlotte, NC in September of 2013, following the recommendation of Rev. Norman E. Kerry Jr. of Chappell Memorial Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC, and called to pastor First Mt. Calvary in September of 2016.
Dr. Griffin received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a major in Computer Information Systems, from Georgia Southern University, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University, and he received both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Hood Theological seminary. Dr. Griffin holds numerous professional certifications and graduate certificates in areas such as executive management, leadership, supply chain management, financial operations, and theology. In addition, he has received numerous awards for scholarship and academic excellence. These awards include receiving the George Leile Prize for academic excellence, the Harlee H. Lile memorial award for practical theology, being chosen as the Dr. Albert J.D. Aymer scholar for scholastic excellence, and being named the Bishop Joseph Walker scholar for academic achievement.
Pastor Griffin acknowledges all of his personal and professional achievements, but none greater than his love and passion for teaching and preaching God’s Word, and leading God’s people. His ministry objective is to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ through the principles of love, discipleship, evangelism, homiletics, and Christian Education. His favorite book of the Bible is the Gospel of John, and his favorite scripture is “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).
